  • 36-foot operating radius with 24-foot cord
  • Includes SBD 365-3 floorhead, upholstery nozzle, crevice nozzle, and dust brush

Product Overview

The Guard L1 Electro Basic is a traditional Miele canister vacuum designed for corded, bagged cleaning. Its PowerLine motor, flow-optimized airways, and four selectable modes provide adjustable cleaning performance for everyday household tasks. The illuminated power display and foot controls keep operation straightforward.

The vacuum has a 36-foot operating radius, including a 24-foot cord, so you can cover a substantial area before changing outlets. Four-point maneuverability, caster wheels designed to be gentle on floors, and a telescopic wand help make it practical to move around rooms and furniture.

For floor and above-floor cleaning, the package includes the SBD 365-3 floorhead, an upholstery nozzle, a crevice nozzle, and a dust brush. The accessories are integrated into the machine, while the rear park system provides a dedicated place for the floorhead and wand during pauses.

Dust is collected in a HyClean Pure TU FilterBag with a stated 3.7-US-quart capacity. The AirClean exhaust filter, motor protection filter, and ComfortFit filtration system support cleaner exhaust air as part of the normal bagged-vacuum design.

Expert Recommendation

We recommend the Guard L1 Electro Basic for shoppers who want a full-size canister vacuum with a long operating radius, adjustable foot controls, and a conventional bagged filtration system. It is a sensible option for routine floor cleaning when integrated tools and a telescopic wand are more important than cordless operation.

The included tools make the machine useful beyond open floors: the upholstery nozzle addresses furniture, the crevice nozzle reaches narrow spaces, and the dust brush handles dusting tasks. The universal floorhead information supplied by Miele also makes this model relevant for homes where cleaning needs vary by room.

A different Miele series may be a better fit if you specifically need a feature that is not stated for this model, such as cordless operation or a different floorhead configuration. Ace Vacuums can help compare available Miele options and confirm which floorhead and accessories best match your floors.

Best For

Carpet and Rugs

The four selectable modes and Miele’s stated powerful cleaning performance provide adjustable suction for routine carpet and rug cleaning. The included floorhead is identified as a universal floorhead for various flooring types.

Hardwood Floors

The floorhead information supports cleaning various types of flooring, while caster wheels are described as gentle on floors. Selectable power settings can help tailor operation to the task.

Above-Floor Cleaning

Quiet Cleaning Preferences

The manufacturer lists a 75 dB sound level. Buyers who prioritize a stated sound specification can use that figure when comparing models.

Not Ideal For

  • Customers who specifically want cordless cleaning should consider another type of vacuum, since this model uses a power cord.
  • Shoppers who prefer a bagless vacuum will not find that design here; the Guard L1 collects debris in a FilterBag.
  • Buyers seeking a compact handheld or stick vacuum may find this 17-pound canister format less suitable.
  • The manufacturer information does not identify this model as including an electric powerhead, so shoppers needing that specific tool should confirm another configuration.

Key Features

  • Four Power Modes: Four selectable cleaning modes let you adjust suction for different cleaning tasks.
  • Foot Controls: Plus/minus footswitches provide convenient suction adjustment without requiring hand control.
  • 36-Foot Radius: An 11-meter operating radius helps cover more floor area between outlet changes.

For an approved change-of-mind return, a 15% restocking fee applies to the returned merchandise price. Original shipping charges are not refundable and the customer pays return shipping. These charges do not apply to an approved return caused by our shipping error or a damaged/defective item claim. Contact us first so we can arrange the appropriate remedy and shipping instructions. Do not assume a prepaid label is included.

Final-sale and excluded items

Air purifiers; discounted, clearance, trade-in, holiday-sale and price-matched purchases; gift cards; custom or special-order products; electrical parts; used or installed items; opened cleaning solutions; and used bags, filters, belts or other consumables are not eligible for change-of-mind returns. Other items clearly marked final sale at purchase are also excluded. An opened box alone does not disqualify an otherwise eligible unused, complete item, but consumables and cleaning solutions must remain unopened.

Damaged, defective, incorrect or missing items; recalls

Inspect your order promptly and contact us as soon as you discover a problem, with your order number and photos where helpful. Keep the packaging. Change-of-mind exclusions and deadlines do not remove applicable defect, warranty, recall or statutory rights. Warranty coverage requires evaluation under the manufacturer's terms; dealer status does not guarantee free repair. Recalled products must follow the manufacturer's recall process.

Refund timing and exchanges

After we receive and inspect the return, we will notify you of approval or the reason it cannot be accepted. Approved refunds are issued to the original payment method within 10 business days of approval; your bank may take additional time to post them. Contact us if more than 15 business days have passed since approval. Exchanges require authorization and replacement availability; any price difference and applicable charges will be explained before processing.

Applicable rights and earlier purchases

This policy applies to online and in-store purchases. We will honor more favorable written return terms provided with an earlier purchase. Applicable consumer rights remain unaffected. Where the European Union 14-day cancellation right applies, customers may cancel or return eligible orders within 14 days of receipt, subject to applicable legal exceptions, without giving a reason.
