Quick Summary

The Miele Guard L1 Electro (Titanium PF, material number 12704580) is the top model in Miele's Guard L1 bagged canister series. It pairs a 1200 W PowerLine motor with an Automatic mode that adjusts suction to the floor type, a premium LCD display and Miele@home app integration.

It ships with two floor tools: the SEB 228 Electro Plus powerbrush for deep carpet cleaning and the AllFloor floorhead for mixed floors. Sealed HyClean bags and a HEPA AirClean exhaust filter make it a strong choice for allergy-sensitive homes.

  • Bagged canister with HyClean Pure TU FilterBag (3.7 qt)
  • HEPA AirClean exhaust filter
  • SEB 228 electrobrush and AllFloor floorhead included
  • Automatic mode, LCD display and app integration
  • 36 ft cleaning radius, 24 ft cord, 75 dB

Product Overview

The Guard L1 series is Miele's next generation of the Complete C3 canister line. The Guard L1 Electro sits at the top of that range, adding the electrically driven SEB 228 powerbrush and an electro telescopic wand to the series' standard features.

Like every Guard L1, it uses Miele's ComfortFit bag system, which positions the FilterBag automatically and closes it hygienically. Side vents with soil-repellent fabric help reduce operating noise, and Dynamic Drive caster wheels are designed to be gentle on floors.

Miele says the Guard series was tested for the equivalent of 20 years of use during development (750 hours at various power levels, based on 37.5 hours per year).

Expert Recommendation

We recommend the Guard L1 Electro for homes with a good amount of carpet or area rugs, especially medium to deep pile, where a motorized brush roll makes a clear difference. The AllFloor floorhead covers hard floors and low rugs, so you are not left without a bare-floor option.

It is also a natural upgrade for owners of an older Complete C3 who want smart features and automatic suction control while keeping the bagged canister design they already know.

If your home is mostly hard floors, the standard Guard L1 or the Guard L1 AllFloor may be a better value. Our staff can show you the differences side by side in either store.

Best For

Carpet and Rugs

The SEB 228 electrobrush has a motor-driven roller and five-level height adjustment for all pile depths.

Allergy Sufferers

With the HEPA AirClean filter and HyClean bags, Miele rates retention at 99.999% (IEC 62885-2:2021, HEPA per EN 1822:2019).

Pet Owners

A bagged system keeps hair and dander sealed inside the bag at disposal, and the electrobrush lifts embedded hair from carpet.

Large Homes

A 36 ft cleaning radius and 24 ft cord mean fewer outlet changes between rooms.

Quieter Cleaning

Miele lists a volume of 75 dB, and the side vents are designed to reduce noise.

Not Ideal For

  • Buyers who want a cordless, grab-and-go vacuum. This is a corded canister at 17 lb.
  • Homes with almost no carpet, where the SEB 228 would rarely be used
  • Shoppers who prefer a bagless system with no ongoing bag cost
  • Storage spaces too tight for a canister, hose and wand

Key Features

  • Automatic mode: adjusts suction power to the flooring
  • Premium LCD display: illuminated display with power indicator
  • Miele@home: app integration for smart features
  • SEB 228 Electro Plus brush: motor-driven roller with five height settings
  • AllFloor floorhead: flat, agile design for all surfaces
  • ComfortFit: automatic FilterBag positioning and hygienic handling
  • HEPA AirClean filter: exhaust filtration for fine dust and allergens
  • FilterBag change indicator and motor protection filter
  • Electro telescopic wand and Comfort handle 2.0
  • +/- footswitches, park system for breaks and one-touch cord rewind

What Makes This Model Stand Out

Most canisters in this class offer either a powered brush or smart features. The Guard L1 Electro combines both: a motorized carpet brush, an Automatic mode that responds to the floor, an LCD display and app integration, all in the bagged, HEPA-filtered format Miele is known for.

The two included floor tools also mean you can clean carpet and hard floors well without buying an extra head.

Product Comparisons

Guard L1 Electro vs Other Guard L1 Models

Miele's Guard L1 series also includes the Guard L1 AllFloor, Guard L1 Cat & Dog and the standard Guard L1. The Electro is the only one in the series built around the SEB 228 electrobrush with an electro telescopic wand, which matters most on carpet.

Canister vs Upright

A canister keeps the weight in the body rather than your hand, and the hose and wand reach stairs, drapes and under furniture easily. An upright can be quicker for large open carpet areas. If you clean stairs or a lot of furniture, a canister is usually easier.

Miele vs SEBO

Both are German brands we carry and service. SEBO is best known for commercial-grade uprights, while Miele is best known for bagged canisters like this one. We can demo both in store.

Miele vs Dyson

The main difference is the system. The Guard L1 Electro is a corded, bagged canister with HEPA filtration and a sealed bag for disposal. Most Dyson models are bagless and many are cordless sticks. If you want to avoid emptying a dust bin, a bagged Miele is the simpler choice.

Questions Buyers Commonly Ask

Is the Guard L1 Electro good for pet hair?

Yes, on carpet in particular. The SEB 228 lifts hair from the pile, and the sealed bag keeps it contained when you throw it away.

Is it worth buying over the standard Guard L1?

If you have medium or deep pile carpet, the electrobrush is the main reason to step up. On mostly hard floors, the standard model may be enough.

Is it quiet?

Miele lists it at 75 dB, with side vents designed to reduce noise.

Is it a good Dyson alternative?

It is a good alternative if you want sealed-bag disposal, HEPA exhaust filtration and a canister that reaches stairs and under furniture. It is not the right pick if you specifically want a cordless stick.

Is it easy to use on stairs?

Yes. You carry the canister by its handle, and the hose, telescopic wand and small tools reach each step. The park system lets you rest the wand during breaks.

What ongoing costs should I plan for?

Plan for TU FilterBags as they fill and a replacement HEPA filter periodically. Miele recommends changing the SF-HA 50-1 HEPA filter once a year.

Shipping, Return & Refund Policy

Shipping Policy

In-stock merchandise generally ships from our Leesburg, Virginia location within 3–5 business days. Processing time is separate from carrier transit time and is not a guaranteed delivery date. Weekends and holidays can affect timing. Special-order, backordered or unavailable items may take longer; contact us to confirm timing before purchase when a deadline matters.

Shipping options and charges are shown at checkout. After dispatch, follow the carrier's tracking updates. Weather, carrier delays, order verification and inventory confirmation may affect delivery. Inspect packages promptly and retain packaging if there is damage or an incorrect or missing item.

Returns and refunds

Eligible unused items have a 30-calendar-day return request window for refunds or exchanges, measured from delivery or in-store purchase. Return authorization is required. Final-sale exclusions, the 15% restocking fee for change-of-mind returns and shipping responsibilities are explained in our Return and Refund Policy. That policy is the governing source for return eligibility and fees.

For shipping or return help, email sales@acevacuums.com or call 703-997-9292.

30-Day Returns, Refunds and Exchanges

Updated September 27, 2026. Request a return for an eligible unused item within 30 calendar days of delivery (or purchase for items collected in store). Eligible returns may be refunded to the original payment method or exchanged, subject to availability. The same 30-day request window applies to both refunds and exchanges; there is no separate seven-day or 15-day refund deadline.

Eligibility and authorization

Items must be unused, clean, complete and in their original packaging with all accessories, manuals and proof of purchase. Contact sales@acevacuums.com or 703-997-9292 before sending anything back. Include your order number, item and reason for return. We will confirm eligibility, charges and return instructions. Unapproved or cash-on-delivery returns are not accepted.

Fees and shipping

For an approved change-of-mind return, a 15% restocking fee applies to the returned merchandise price. Original shipping charges are not refundable and the customer pays return shipping. These charges do not apply to an approved return caused by our shipping error or a damaged/defective item claim. Contact us first so we can arrange the appropriate remedy and shipping instructions. Do not assume a prepaid label is included.

Final-sale and excluded items

Air purifiers; discounted, clearance, trade-in, holiday-sale and price-matched purchases; gift cards; custom or special-order products; electrical parts; used or installed items; opened cleaning solutions; and used bags, filters, belts or other consumables are not eligible for change-of-mind returns. Other items clearly marked final sale at purchase are also excluded. An opened box alone does not disqualify an otherwise eligible unused, complete item, but consumables and cleaning solutions must remain unopened.

Damaged, defective, incorrect or missing items; recalls

Inspect your order promptly and contact us as soon as you discover a problem, with your order number and photos where helpful. Keep the packaging. Change-of-mind exclusions and deadlines do not remove applicable defect, warranty, recall or statutory rights. Warranty coverage requires evaluation under the manufacturer's terms; dealer status does not guarantee free repair. Recalled products must follow the manufacturer's recall process.

Refund timing and exchanges

After we receive and inspect the return, we will notify you of approval or the reason it cannot be accepted. Approved refunds are issued to the original payment method within 10 business days of approval; your bank may take additional time to post them. Contact us if more than 15 business days have passed since approval. Exchanges require authorization and replacement availability; any price difference and applicable charges will be explained before processing.

Applicable rights and earlier purchases

This policy applies to online and in-store purchases. We will honor more favorable written return terms provided with an earlier purchase. Applicable consumer rights remain unaffected. Where the European Union 14-day cancellation right applies, customers may cancel or return eligible orders within 14 days of receipt, subject to applicable legal exceptions, without giving a reason.
