Quick Summary
The Miele HM 16-80 D is a professional electric rotary iron with a steam function, a 32 11/16-inch working width, and a 6 5/16-inch roller diameter. Its variable roller speed, temperature stages, front feed and return, and seated operating position are designed to make larger ironing tasks more controlled and efficient.
This model is suitable for commercial laundries, hotels and catering operations, care homes, residential homes and apartments, camp sites, marine use, and domestic use. A free roller end helps with shirts, blouses, and skirts, while the fold-away design makes the machine easier to store.
- Professional electric rotary iron with steam function
- 32 11/16-inch working width and 6 5/16-inch roller diameter
- Variable roller speed from 2 to 4.5 feet per minute
- Front feed and laundry return allow wall placement
- Foot switch, finger guard, airing bar, and fold-away function
Product Overview
The HM 16-80 D is built around a heated 160 mm roller and an 830 mm working width. Laundry passes continuously between the roller and the heated aluminum plate, helping produce a consistent finish across larger textile items than a handheld iron can practically cover.
A selector dial controls the machine, while temperature stages and variable roller speed let the operator adapt the process to the textile and its moisture level. Miele lists a speed range of 2 to 4.5 feet per minute and maximum ironing performance of 13.0 kg/h at 20% residual moisture; actual results depend on the laundry and operator.
The front feed and front return are practical in rooms where space is limited. Because both the input and returned laundry are handled at the front, Miele states that the ironer can be positioned against a wall. When the work is complete, the fold-away function supports easier storage.
Expert Recommendation
We recommend this rotary iron for operations that regularly press garments, bed linens, table linens, uniforms, or similar textiles and want a machine with a defined working width, adjustable roller speed, and steam function. Its listed applications include commercial laundries, hotels and catering, care homes, camp sites, marine use, and domestic settings.
The seated operating position, foot switch, feed-in board, and front return make the machine practical for repeated ironing tasks where the operator needs both hands to arrange fabric. The free roller end is particularly useful for shaped items such as shirts, blouses, and skirts.
No sibling Miele model was included in the product information, so we cannot make a model-specific recommendation for choosing another HM series ironer. If your installation requires different electrical requirements, dimensions, capacity, or controls, contact Ace Vacuums to confirm the appropriate Miele option.
Best For
Commercial Laundry Rooms
The machine is listed for commercial laundries and provides up to 28.6 lb/h at 20% residual moisture under Miele’s stated test conditions. Its 32 11/16-inch working width supports larger textile items.
Hotels And Catering
Miele lists the HM 16-80 D as suitable for the hotel and catering industry. The steam function, front return, and adjustable speed can support routine processing of hospitality linens and garments.
Care Homes
The manufacturer lists retirement and care homes among the suitable applications. Seated operation and a foot switch help the operator position fabric with both hands.
Garments And Shaped Items
The free roller end simplifies ironing skirts, shirts, and blouses. The feed-in board also helps the operator guide laundry accurately into the roller.
Wall-Adjacent Installations
Front loading and front return mean the ironer can be installed against a wall, which can help when the laundry room has limited clearance behind the machine.
Flexible Storage
The fold-away function makes the unit easier to store when it is not in use. An airing bar provides a place for ironed laundry to cool without adding creases.
Not Ideal For
- It may not be the right choice for a buyer who only needs occasional touch-ups on a few garments; this is a 39 kg professional rotary iron with a 20 A electrical requirement.
- The machine requires a suitable 208-240V electrical connection and NEMA 6-20 receptacle, so the installation should be checked before purchase.
- The stated working width and roller format may not suit every specialized garment or textile shape. A handheld iron may offer more flexibility for small details.
- The product information does not include a warranty length, noise rating, or installation service details, so those questions should be confirmed before ordering.
Key Features
- Steam Function: The integrated steam function provides quick, uniform steam to help address creases during ironing.
- Variable Roller Speed: The roller speed can be adjusted from 2 to 4.5 feet per minute to suit the fabric and ironing task.
- Wide Working Area: The 32 11/16-inch working width accommodates garments, linens, and other larger textile items.
- Front Feed And Return: Laundry is fed in and returned at the front, allowing the ironer to be installed against a wall.
- Seated Operation: The machine is designed for comfortable ironing while seated, with a foot switch that leaves both hands available to arrange laundry.
- Free Roller End: The unsupported roller end simplifies ironing skirts, shirts, and blouses.
- Fold-Away Design: The fold-away function makes the unit easier to store when it is not being used.
- Safety Finger Guard: The finger guard is triggered when fingers come too close to the roller during feeding.
What Makes This Model Stand Out
The HM 16-80 D combines a steam function with a variable-speed roller, temperature stages, and an 830 mm working width. This gives the operator control over the pace and heat while maintaining even pressure across the working area.
Its layout is unusually practical for constrained laundry rooms: laundry enters and returns at the front, the machine can be placed against a wall, and the roller has a free end for shaped garments. A foot switch, finger guard, feed-in board, airing bar, and fold-away function round out the day-to-day design.
Product Comparisons
Rotary Iron Vs Handheld Iron
A rotary iron feeds fabric through a heated roller and is designed for repeat processing of garments and linens. A handheld iron offers more direct control for small areas and detailed touch-ups, but it does not provide the HM 16-80 D’s stated working width or roller throughput.
Rotary Iron Vs Flatwork Ironer
The HM 16-80 D is a compact rotary iron with a 32 11/16-inch working width, free roller end, and front feed and return. A flatwork ironer is a different machine type generally selected around a flat, continuous textile path; the appropriate choice depends on the laundry items and available installation space.
Professional Rotary Iron Vs Domestic Ironing Setup
This Miele model offers a heated roller, steam function, variable speed, temperature stages, foot-switch operation, and a fold-away function. A conventional domestic setup may be more appropriate when ironing is occasional or when the user needs maximum hand-guided detail work.
This Model Vs Another Miele Ironer
The supplied information does not identify a sibling Miele model or provide comparative specifications. Ace Vacuums can help confirm the right Miele option if you need to compare electrical requirements, working width, controls, or capacity.
Questions Buyers Commonly Ask
Is this rotary iron suitable for a hotel or restaurant?

Is it suitable for a small laundry room?
It can be installed against a wall because laundry is fed in and returned at the front. However, the machine is 38 13/16 inches wide and requires a 208-240V connection with a 20 A fuse rating, so the room and electrical service should be checked.
Does the machine require an operator to stand?
No. Miele describes it as comfortable to use while seated. The foot switch also allows the operator to keep both hands free for arranging the laundry.
Can it iron shirts and blouses?
Yes. The free, unsupported roller end is specifically intended to simplify ironing shirts, blouses, and skirts.

Updated September 27, 2026. Request a return for an eligible unused item within 30 calendar days of delivery (or purchase for items collected in store). Eligible returns may be refunded to the original payment method or exchanged, subject to availability. The same 30-day request window applies to both refunds and exchanges; there is no separate seven-day or 15-day refund deadline.
Eligibility and authorization
Items must be unused, clean, complete and in their original packaging with all accessories, manuals and proof of purchase. Contact sales@acevacuums.com or 703-997-9292 before sending anything back. Include your order number, item and reason for return. We will confirm eligibility, charges and return instructions. Unapproved or cash-on-delivery returns are not accepted.
Fees and shipping
For an approved change-of-mind return, a 15% restocking fee applies to the returned merchandise price. Original shipping charges are not refundable and the customer pays return shipping. These charges do not apply to an approved return caused by our shipping error or a damaged/defective item claim. Contact us first so we can arrange the appropriate remedy and shipping instructions. Do not assume a prepaid label is included.
Final-sale and excluded items
Air purifiers; discounted, clearance, trade-in, holiday-sale and price-matched purchases; gift cards; custom or special-order products; electrical parts; used or installed items; opened cleaning solutions; and used bags, filters, belts or other consumables are not eligible for change-of-mind returns. Other items clearly marked final sale at purchase are also excluded. An opened box alone does not disqualify an otherwise eligible unused, complete item, but consumables and cleaning solutions must remain unopened.
Damaged, defective, incorrect or missing items; recalls
Inspect your order promptly and contact us as soon as you discover a problem, with your order number and photos where helpful. Keep the packaging. Change-of-mind exclusions and deadlines do not remove applicable defect, warranty, recall or statutory rights. Warranty coverage requires evaluation under the manufacturer's terms; dealer status does not guarantee free repair. Recalled products must follow the manufacturer's recall process.
Refund timing and exchanges
After we receive and inspect the return, we will notify you of approval or the reason it cannot be accepted. Approved refunds are issued to the original payment method within 10 business days of approval; your bank may take additional time to post them. Contact us if more than 15 business days have passed since approval. Exchanges require authorization and replacement availability; any price difference and applicable charges will be explained before processing.
Applicable rights and earlier purchases
This policy applies to online and in-store purchases. We will honor more favorable written return terms provided with an earlier purchase. Applicable consumer rights remain unaffected. Where the European Union 14-day cancellation right applies, customers may cancel or return eligible orders within 14 days of receipt, subject to applicable legal exceptions, without giving a reason.
