Quick Summary

The Nadair ST-600-18B is a compact central vacuum power unit for homeowners who want a whole-house vacuum connected to existing central vacuum piping. Its 600 airwatts, 140.9 inches of water lift, and 127.1 CFM provide strong suction and airflow, while the 18 L canister and narrow footprint suit installations where space is limited.

Authorized Nadair Dealer Ace Vacuums can help you evaluate the piping run, inlet setup, and accessory compatibility before purchasing. This model uses a disposable triple-layer filtration bag together with a permanent protective filter, so it is a bag-only system rather than a bagless or hybrid unit.

Quick Highlights

  • 600 airwatts with a 5.7-inch, 1-stage Ametek thru-flow motor
  • 140.9 inches of water lift and 127.1 CFM airflow
  • 62 dB operating noise with foam isolation and an integrated muffler
  • 18 L / 4.75 gal top-load rolled steel canister
  • 10-year residential warranty on specified parts, with 1 year of labor

Product Overview

The ST-600-18B is designed as a compact central vacuum system for homes that already have, or are being fitted with, standard central vacuum piping. Its side air intake helps simplify connection to an existing piping network, and the rolled steel canister is designed to resist wear, corrosion, and damage.

Inside, a 600-airwatt 1-stage Ametek thru-flow motor produces 140.9 inches of water lift and 127.1 CFM. Those specifications describe both the unit's suction strength and its ability to move air through the central vacuum piping and hose system. Ace Vacuums can help size the unit for the home and piping run rather than relying on a square-foot coverage claim.

The ST-600-18B must be operated with a disposable bag and its permanent protective filter installed at all times. One triple-layer disposable bag and one permanent protective filter are included. This arrangement keeps collected debris in the bag and protects the motor, but it also means the unit is not intended for bagless operation.

A 62 dB rating, noise-isolating foam, and an integrated muffler help reduce operating sound. The top-load 18 L canister is removable for service, and the compact dimensions are 11.42 inches deep by 19.48 inches high by 11.42 inches wide.

Expert Recommendation

This model suits homeowners who want a compact central vacuum power unit with straightforward bagged filtration. It is a practical fit for a narrow utility area, an existing standard piping network, or a household that prefers replacing a contained disposable bag instead of handling debris from a bagless canister.

The main tradeoff is the required bag-and-filter arrangement. If you want a larger canister or the option to operate with or without a bag, the Nadair ST-700-25H offers 700 airwatts, 141.2 inches of water lift, 140.2 CFM, and a 25 L canister with hybrid cyclonic filtration. If you need more capacity while keeping the same 700-airwatt specifications, the ST-700-35H has a 35 L canister.

The ST-600-18B is not a complete cleaning kit. The hose and attachment kit are sold separately and must match the home's inlets, including whether the installation uses low-voltage or electric hose control.

Best For

Tight Utility Spaces

Its compact 11.42-inch by 11.42-inch footprint and 19.48-inch height make it appropriate when the installation area is narrow, subject to the required clearance around the unit.

Bag-Preferring Households

The disposable triple-layer bag contains collected debris and is required along with the permanent protective filter, making the operating method clear and contained.

Existing Piping Networks

The side air intake is designed for easy connection to an existing piping network, and the unit fits standard 2-inch outside-diameter PVC piping.

Noise-Conscious Homes

The unit is rated at 62 dB and uses noise-isolating foam plus an integrated muffler to reduce operating sound.

Routine Residential Use

The ST-600-18B includes a 10-year residential warranty on specified parts, with 1 year of labor, when maintained according to the warranty requirements.

Not Ideal For

  • It is not ideal for shoppers who specifically want bagless operation because a disposable bag and permanent protective filter are mandatory at all times.
  • It may not suit households that want the larger 25 L or 35 L capacities available from the ST-700-25H and ST-700-35H.
  • It is not a ready-to-use portable vacuum or complete central vacuum kit; the hose and cleaning attachments are sold separately.
  • It requires proper installation, piping, low-voltage hose control wiring, and filter and bag maintenance.

Key Features

  • 600 Airwatts: The motor provides 600 airwatts for central vacuum cleaning performance.
  • Strong Suction: The unit produces 140.9 inches of water lift and 127.1 CFM airflow.
  • Compact Housing: The 11.42-inch deep by 19.48-inch high by 11.42-inch wide body is designed for narrow spaces.
  • Bag-Only Filtration: A disposable triple-layer bag and permanent protective filter must remain installed during operation.
  • 18 L Canister: The top-load 18 L / 4.75 gal rolled steel canister is removable for emptying and service.
  • Quieter Operation: Noise-isolating foam and an integrated muffler support the 62 dB noise rating.
  • Side Air Intake: The side intake supports installation on an existing central vacuum piping network.
  • LED Indicator: An LED indicator displays the status of the central vacuum power unit.
  • Steel Canister: Rolled steel construction is resistant to wear, corrosion, and damage.

What Makes This Model Stand Out

The ST-600-18B combines a compact enclosure with 600 airwatts, 140.9 inches of water lift, and 127.1 CFM. That makes it a focused choice for homeowners who want a strong central vacuum power unit without moving to the larger canister sizes of other Nadair models.

Its filtration instructions are especially important: the disposable bag and FILP-SF-1 permanent protective filter are both required at all times. The filter is washable with cold water, but it must be replaced yearly to maintain the warranty, so buyers should plan for both bag replacement and filter care.

Product Comparisons

ST-600-18B vs ST-700-25H

The ST-600-18B has 600 airwatts, 140.9 inches of water lift, 127.1 CFM, a 62 dB rating, and an 18 L canister. The ST-700-25H increases output to 700 airwatts, 141.2 inches of water lift, and 140.2 CFM, has a 25 L canister, and uses hybrid cyclonic filtration that can operate with or without a bag.

ST-600-18B vs ST-700-35H

Both are in the compact ST Series, but the ST-700-35H provides a 35 L / 9.25 gal canister compared with the ST-600-18B's 18 L / 4.75 gal capacity. The ST-700-35H also has 700 airwatts, 141.2 inches of water lift, and 140.2 CFM, while the ST-600-18B is the smaller bag-only option.

Central Vacuum vs Portable Vacuum

A central vacuum power unit remains installed in a garage, basement, or other suitable utility location, so the homeowner does not carry the main machine from room to room. The exhaust can be vented outside when the installation allows, and cleaning is performed through a separately purchased hose and tool kit.

Bagged vs Hybrid Operation

The ST-600-18B is bag-only: its disposable bag and permanent protective filter must always be installed. A hybrid Nadair model such as the ST-700-25H can be used with or without a bag and uses hybrid cyclonic filtration, giving shoppers a different maintenance preference.

Questions Buyers Commonly Ask

Will this unit connect to my existing central vacuum piping?

The side air intake is designed for an existing piping network, and Nadair lists compatibility with standard 2-inch outside-diameter PVC piping. Have Ace Vacuums review the piping and inlet arrangement before installation.

Can I use the ST-600-18B without a bag?

No. This model must be used with a disposable bag and the FILP-SF-1 permanent protective filter at all times. It is not a bagless or hybrid-operating unit.

Does the unit include a hose and cleaning tools?

No hose or attachment kit is listed as included. The hose and tools are sold separately and must match the home's inlets and control type.

How quiet is this central vacuum power unit?

The stated noise level is 62 dB. Noise-isolating foam and an integrated muffler are included to support noise reduction.

How often should the bag and filter be serviced?

Nadair's manual recommends replacing the bag or emptying the canister three or four times per year. Wash the permanent filter with cold water whenever the canister is emptied, and replace the filter annually to maintain the warranty.

Shipping, Return & Refund Policy

Shipping Policy

In-stock merchandise generally ships from our Leesburg, Virginia location within 3–5 business days. Processing time is separate from carrier transit time and is not a guaranteed delivery date. Weekends and holidays can affect timing. Special-order, backordered or unavailable items may take longer; contact us to confirm timing before purchase when a deadline matters.

Shipping options and charges are shown at checkout. After dispatch, follow the carrier's tracking updates. Weather, carrier delays, order verification and inventory confirmation may affect delivery. Inspect packages promptly and retain packaging if there is damage or an incorrect or missing item.

Returns and refunds

Eligible unused items have a 30-calendar-day return request window for refunds or exchanges, measured from delivery or in-store purchase. Return authorization is required. Final-sale exclusions, the 15% restocking fee for change-of-mind returns and shipping responsibilities are explained in our Return and Refund Policy. That policy is the governing source for return eligibility and fees.

For shipping or return help, email sales@acevacuums.com or call 703-997-9292.

30-Day Returns, Refunds and Exchanges

Updated September 27, 2026. Request a return for an eligible unused item within 30 calendar days of delivery (or purchase for items collected in store). Eligible returns may be refunded to the original payment method or exchanged, subject to availability. The same 30-day request window applies to both refunds and exchanges; there is no separate seven-day or 15-day refund deadline.

Eligibility and authorization

Items must be unused, clean, complete and in their original packaging with all accessories, manuals and proof of purchase. Contact sales@acevacuums.com or 703-997-9292 before sending anything back. Include your order number, item and reason for return. We will confirm eligibility, charges and return instructions. Unapproved or cash-on-delivery returns are not accepted.

Fees and shipping

For an approved change-of-mind return, a 15% restocking fee applies to the returned merchandise price. Original shipping charges are not refundable and the customer pays return shipping. These charges do not apply to an approved return caused by our shipping error or a damaged/defective item claim. Contact us first so we can arrange the appropriate remedy and shipping instructions. Do not assume a prepaid label is included.

Final-sale and excluded items

Air purifiers; discounted, clearance, trade-in, holiday-sale and price-matched purchases; gift cards; custom or special-order products; electrical parts; used or installed items; opened cleaning solutions; and used bags, filters, belts or other consumables are not eligible for change-of-mind returns. Other items clearly marked final sale at purchase are also excluded. An opened box alone does not disqualify an otherwise eligible unused, complete item, but consumables and cleaning solutions must remain unopened.

Damaged, defective, incorrect or missing items; recalls

Inspect your order promptly and contact us as soon as you discover a problem, with your order number and photos where helpful. Keep the packaging. Change-of-mind exclusions and deadlines do not remove applicable defect, warranty, recall or statutory rights. Warranty coverage requires evaluation under the manufacturer's terms; dealer status does not guarantee free repair. Recalled products must follow the manufacturer's recall process.

Refund timing and exchanges

After we receive and inspect the return, we will notify you of approval or the reason it cannot be accepted. Approved refunds are issued to the original payment method within 10 business days of approval; your bank may take additional time to post them. Contact us if more than 15 business days have passed since approval. Exchanges require authorization and replacement availability; any price difference and applicable charges will be explained before processing.

Applicable rights and earlier purchases

This policy applies to online and in-store purchases. We will honor more favorable written return terms provided with an earlier purchase. Applicable consumer rights remain unaffected. Where the European Union 14-day cancellation right applies, customers may cancel or return eligible orders within 14 days of receipt, subject to applicable legal exceptions, without giving a reason.

Recommended Nadair Products

Build your cleaning setup with useful accessories. Compare the hose connection and kit contents before choosing; complete kits are alternative setups.

Check your system and connections

Hose fit depends on your wall inlet, handle, wand and electrical connection. Round 1¼-inch tools do not fit every proprietary or D-shaped handle. A low-voltage hose controls suction but cannot power a corded electric brush. Pigtail hoses need a nearby electrical outlet; direct-connect hoses need matching powered inlets. Check what a complete kit already includes.

Find the correct bag or filter

Match the full power-unit model, production version, bag collar and filter dimensions. Cyclonic, disposable-bag and permanent-filter systems use different supplies. A similar size or shared brand name is not enough to confirm fit. If a matching supply is not shown, send us the model label and a photo of the old bag or filter. Shop central vacuum bags & filters
