The Power Unit at the Center of the System

Product Overview

The BEAM 475 mounts in a garage, basement, or utility area. Its 40.1 × 14.1-inch chassis houses a 6.6-inch bypass motor while keeping motor noise and debris remote.

Hybrid GORE construction offers two paths: contained disposal in a 5.3-gallon bag or direct collection in a 5.9-gallon canister. Bagless use requires filter care, and conversion is reversible.

An hour meter tracks use. This listing is the power unit; hose convenience, carpet agitation, pet-hair pickup, and floor protection depend on the network and attachments.

Professional Sizing Guidance

Expert Recommendation

Treat the BEAM 475 as a high-lift residential power unit for demanding networks—not as a universal replacement selected from square footage or AirWatts alone.

Choose the 475

You have long runs, meaningful vertical rise, substantial carpet, heavy dry debris, or a correctly planned retractable hose that benefits from 144.9 inches of water lift.

Choose the 345

Your system is smaller and efficient, mounting width is limited, and 115.6-inch lift with slightly higher maximum airflow is a better-value match.

Compare the 495

You need still more sealed-suction margin or the larger-home recommendation. Compare the complete motor curve and pipe plan rather than choosing by model number.

A larger unit is not automatically better: excessive capacity adds cost and size without fixing a clogged, leaking, or poorly designed network. Pair carpet and pet hair with a suitable electric powerhead, hard floors with a surface-approved brush, and allergy-conscious ownership with the more contained bagged disposal path.

Homes and Cleaning Priorities

Best For

Large and luxury homes

The 10,000-square-foot guideline and high lift suit expansive, multi-level, or restrictive layouts after professional sizing.

Pet owners and carpeted homes

The unit transports hair and heavy dry debris; a compatible electric powerhead supplies carpet agitation.

Hardwood and mixed floors

Use surface-approved tools for wood, tile, LVP, rugs, carpet, and stairs.

Allergy-conscious households

Remote collection and disposable bags reduce contact with debris during emptying; no medical result is promised.

Hide-A-Hose or Retraflex plans

BEAM positions the 475 for retractable hoses, subject to layout-specific sizing.

Quiet cleaning in living areas

The motor stays remote, though BEAM publishes no numeric ABEAM475A dBA value.

Balanced Buying Advice

Not Ideal For

Small systems or tight mounting areas

A smaller BEAM may fit better; the 40.1 × 14.1-inch body needs ample service clearance.

Homes without central-vac infrastructure

It needs tubing, inlets, low-voltage controls, mounting space, and a suitable grounded 120-volt supply.

Wet or construction cleanup

It is for dry household matter—not water, ash, cement, plaster, or drywall dust.

Buyers expecting everything in one box

The bare ABEAM475A is not a hose-and-powerhead package. Choose or reuse compatible system components only after confirming fit.

Unverified commercial or multi-user use

Domestic warranty terms do not carry over unchanged to commercial duty cycles.

Buyers requiring numeric sound or HEPA claims

The 475 dBA figure is unpublished, and its GORE filter is not labeled HEPA-certified.

Large-format body 40.1 in. high × 14.1 in. diameter Allows the larger motor and canister while requiring suitable service clearance.
Residential warranty 10 years or 750 operating hours motor/electrical components; 1 year labor Coverage applies to qualifying domestic use under current BEAM terms.

High Lift, Hybrid Flexibility, Measurable Usage

What Makes This Model Stand Out

The 475 combines 144.9 inches of water lift with 135.8 CFM airflow. That balance makes it especially relevant when long tubing, vertical rise, many fittings, or a retractable hose creates resistance. The 10,000-square-foot recommendation is useful, but the pipe network—not floor area alone—determines whether that performance is appropriate.

BEAM itself positions this model for carpet, heavier dry debris, and Retraflex retractable-hose installations. An integrated hour meter records operating time, helping the owner and technician monitor maintenance and the 750-hour limit attached to parts coverage.

Hybrid operation remains reversible, and the larger 5.9-gallon bagless canister gives more collection room than the 345. Service references are identifiable: TDSAC93N bags, TDFILTGORE14 filter, FM24832702 Ametek motor assembly, and ELECIR901V circuit board.

Important filtration distinction: BEAM describes its self-cleaning filter as 98% efficient at 0.3 microns. It does not identify the ABEAM475A filter as HEPA-certified, so this page does not make that claim.

Model-to-Model Buying Decisions

Product Comparisons

BEAM 475 vs BEAM 345

The 345 offers 142 CFM; the 475 increases lift from 115.6 to 144.9 inches and enlarges the canister. Choose by system restriction.

BEAM 475 vs BEAM 495

The 475 favors more airflow; the 495 trades airflow for 161.5-inch lift and larger-home guidance. Pipe design decides.

BEAM 475 vs Cana-Vac Signature 790

Published power matches exactly. Cana-Vac emphasizes HEPA filtration and longer labor coverage; BEAM offers larger capacities, self-cleaning GORE filtration, and an hour meter.

BEAM 475 vs MD AirMaster A700tv

Both are hybrid units for 10,000-square-foot systems. MD publishes slightly more airflow and 62 dB; BEAM publishes higher lift and adds usage tracking.

BEAM 475 vs VACUFLO DB8000

The bag-only DB8000 publishes more power and 12,000-square-foot guidance. BEAM adds bagless flexibility and retractable-hose positioning; 475 sound remains unpublished.

BEAM 475 vs Riccar RCU-H7

Riccar offers hybrid HEPA-media compatibility but publishes no AW, CFM, lift, or dBA. BEAM provides exact performance and larger-home guidance.

AirWatts, maximum airflow, sealed suction, coverage, and sound are not one universal score; test methods can differ.

Frequently Asked Questions

Open the guide, then select a question. Answers distinguish published specifications from installation judgment.

FAQs
How large a home can the BEAM 475 serve?

BEAM recommends up to approximately 10,000 square feet. This is a sizing guideline, not a guarantee.

Is square footage enough to size the BEAM 475?

No. Assess tubing, farthest inlet, elbows, rise, leaks, hose length, floor tools, and usage.

Why does the 475 have lower CFM but higher water lift than the 345?

Airflow and sealed suction measure different points on a motor curve. The 345 publishes 142 CFM; the 475 publishes 135.8 CFM but much higher 144.9-inch water lift for restrictive systems.

Is the BEAM 475 good for pet hair and carpet?

Yes, when properly sized and paired with a carpet-appropriate electric powerhead.

Will it clean hardwood and mixed floors?

Yes. Use a surface-approved bare-floor brush for finished hard floors and a suitable electric powerhead for carpet and compatible rugs.

Is it a good choice for allergy-conscious households?

Bagged use contains debris during disposal and keeps collection remote. BEAM does not identify the GORE filter as HEPA-certified.

Can the BEAM 475 run bagged or bagless?

Yes. It is supplied for bagged use and can be reversibly converted to direct-canister collection according to the current BEAM manual.

Should I use the 475 bagged or bagless?

Choose bagged for cleaner disposal. Choose bagless to avoid recurring bags if you accept canister and filter care.

Which bag and filter fit ABEAM475A?

The model-specific sheet lists TDSAC93N bags and the 14-inch TDFILTGORE14 permanent filter. Match supplies to the model and serial label before ordering.

What does the integrated hour meter do?

It records power-unit operating time, supporting maintenance planning and awareness of the 750-operating-hour limit attached to the parts warranty.

What maintenance is required in bagless mode?

Disconnect power, empty the canister, and follow BEAM's seasonal permanent-filter care procedure. Usage, pets, and debris volume can require more frequent attention.

Does the bare unit include a hose and powerhead?

No. Confirm whether you need a hose, wand, powerhead, brushes, inlets, tubing, wiring, or installation materials.

Can it replace an older BEAM, NuTone, Electrolux, or another brand?

Often. Verify piping, exhaust, clearance, voltage, control wiring, hose compatibility, leaks, and clogs.

Can the BEAM 475 be retrofitted into an existing home?

Yes. BEAM states that most existing homes can be retrofitted. Routing through a garage, basement, attic, crawlspace, or closets depends on construction and planning.

Is the 475 suitable for Hide-A-Hose or Retraflex?

Yes when correctly sized. BEAM specifically promotes the model for Retraflex, but retractable-hose length, farthest run, rise, elbows, and inlet plan remain important.

Does the BEAM 475 require outside venting?

BEAM's standard instructions do not require exterior venting. Follow current guidance for the muffler, location, clearance, and any optional exterior exhaust.

What electrical connection does the BEAM 475 require?

It lists 120 volts and 14.1 maximum amps. Use a dedicated grounded circuit, no extension cord, and follow local code.

How quiet is the BEAM 475?

The remote motor reduces noise in occupied rooms, but BEAM lists the exact dBA value as “coming soon.” A numeric claim or cross-brand ranking would be misleading.

Can it pick up water, ash, or construction dust?

No. Use it for ordinary dry household matter—not wet surfaces, liquids, burning debris, hot ash, cement, plaster, or drywall dust.

What warranty applies to the BEAM 475?

Domestic use gets 10 years or 750 operating hours on motor/electrical components, plus one-year labor. Separate limited-lifetime body/canister terms apply.

Shipping, Return & Refund Policy

Shipping Policy

In-stock merchandise generally ships from our Leesburg, Virginia location within 3–5 business days. Processing time is separate from carrier transit time and is not a guaranteed delivery date. Weekends and holidays can affect timing. Special-order, backordered or unavailable items may take longer; contact us to confirm timing before purchase when a deadline matters.

Shipping options and charges are shown at checkout. After dispatch, follow the carrier's tracking updates. Weather, carrier delays, order verification and inventory confirmation may affect delivery. Inspect packages promptly and retain packaging if there is damage or an incorrect or missing item.

Returns and refunds

Eligible unused items have a 30-calendar-day return request window for refunds or exchanges, measured from delivery or in-store purchase. Return authorization is required. Final-sale exclusions, the 15% restocking fee for change-of-mind returns and shipping responsibilities are explained in our Return and Refund Policy. That policy is the governing source for return eligibility and fees.

For shipping or return help, email sales@acevacuums.com or call 703-997-9292.

30-Day Returns, Refunds and Exchanges

Updated September 27, 2026. Request a return for an eligible unused item within 30 calendar days of delivery (or purchase for items collected in store). Eligible returns may be refunded to the original payment method or exchanged, subject to availability. The same 30-day request window applies to both refunds and exchanges; there is no separate seven-day or 15-day refund deadline.

Eligibility and authorization

Items must be unused, clean, complete and in their original packaging with all accessories, manuals and proof of purchase. Contact sales@acevacuums.com or 703-997-9292 before sending anything back. Include your order number, item and reason for return. We will confirm eligibility, charges and return instructions. Unapproved or cash-on-delivery returns are not accepted.

Fees and shipping

For an approved change-of-mind return, a 15% restocking fee applies to the returned merchandise price. Original shipping charges are not refundable and the customer pays return shipping. These charges do not apply to an approved return caused by our shipping error or a damaged/defective item claim. Contact us first so we can arrange the appropriate remedy and shipping instructions. Do not assume a prepaid label is included.

Final-sale and excluded items

Air purifiers; discounted, clearance, trade-in, holiday-sale and price-matched purchases; gift cards; custom or special-order products; electrical parts; used or installed items; opened cleaning solutions; and used bags, filters, belts or other consumables are not eligible for change-of-mind returns. Other items clearly marked final sale at purchase are also excluded. An opened box alone does not disqualify an otherwise eligible unused, complete item, but consumables and cleaning solutions must remain unopened.

Damaged, defective, incorrect or missing items; recalls

Inspect your order promptly and contact us as soon as you discover a problem, with your order number and photos where helpful. Keep the packaging. Change-of-mind exclusions and deadlines do not remove applicable defect, warranty, recall or statutory rights. Warranty coverage requires evaluation under the manufacturer's terms; dealer status does not guarantee free repair. Recalled products must follow the manufacturer's recall process.

Refund timing and exchanges

After we receive and inspect the return, we will notify you of approval or the reason it cannot be accepted. Approved refunds are issued to the original payment method within 10 business days of approval; your bank may take additional time to post them. Contact us if more than 15 business days have passed since approval. Exchanges require authorization and replacement availability; any price difference and applicable charges will be explained before processing.

Applicable rights and earlier purchases

This policy applies to online and in-store purchases. We will honor more favorable written return terms provided with an earlier purchase. Applicable consumer rights remain unaffected. Where the European Union 14-day cancellation right applies, customers may cancel or return eligible orders within 14 days of receipt, subject to applicable legal exceptions, without giving a reason.

Recommended BEAM Products

Build your cleaning setup with model-matched supplies and useful accessories. Kit choices are alternatives; check what is already included before ordering.

Check your system and connections

For bags and filters, match the full Beam model and production version. For tools, check the hose handle shape, diameter, wand and electrical connection. Suction-only hoses cannot power corded electric brushes. Complete kits may already contain the tools you need.

Match your Beam bag or filter

Current Beam 205 / 345 / 360 models use the 11-inch filter; 398 / 475 / 495 / 3600 / 4500 use the 14-inch filter. TDSAC93BM bags follow the listed compatible model path. Short TDSAC92BM bags are for the 275 path; #4462 bags are a separate configuration. Confirm older units and production versions before ordering. Check Beam’s official fit guide
