How to Identify Your BEAM Central Vacuum Model
Ace Vacuums · BEAM owner guides
Start with the label on the central vacuum power unit. Record the complete model and serial number. For a hose, wand or powerhead, identify that component separately and photograph its connections. The name on the wall-mounted tank is only one part of the match.
A home can have a BEAM power unit, an older hose, and a replacement cleaning head from another manufacturer. That is why a request for “a part for my BEAM” often needs one more detail. A clear label photo and the old part code usually give a much better starting point than the unit’s color or approximate age.
1. Find the power-unit identification label
Locate the fixed canister that connects to your home’s vacuum pipework. Look for an externally accessible identification or rating label on the unit body. Its position varies by model and generation; do not assume the large BEAM logo is the model label.
- Take a wide photo of the complete unit, including the collection bucket and pipe connections.
- Take a close photo of the label with every line readable. Use extra light or a second angle if the surface reflects the flash.
- Copy the full model exactly. Keep letters, suffixes and other identifiers; a shortened number can leave out useful information.
- Record the serial number separately. It identifies the individual unit and can help a dealer check the production version.
You do not need to remove a motor cover, disconnect pipework or expose electrical wiring to collect these details. If the label cannot be safely reached, send the wide photo first.
For diagrams and the instructions for your system, start with BEAM’s owner-manual resources. The featured product image shows a BEAM 495 power unit; it is an example, not a visual identification chart.
2. Use the label that belongs to the part
| What you need | Details to collect |
|---|---|
| Bags or permanent filters | Power-unit model, existing bag/filter code, and photos of the collection setup and mounting connection. |
| A hose | Wall inlet, both hose ends, handle markings, switch type and existing hose length. |
| A powerhead, belt or brushroll | The cleaning head’s own brand, model label and part number, plus the wand and electrical connector. |
| A motor or control component | Complete power-unit label and a description of the fault. Arrange a service assessment before choosing electrical parts. |
The model tells us which equipment family to investigate; a part number identifies a particular replacement item. Keep both when you have them. A code on a hose handle is not automatically the correct number for the power unit’s filter.

3. Build a useful photo checklist
Send photos that show both the identity of the component and how it connects. For a bag or filter, disconnect the unit from its power supply before opening the collection compartment, and follow the instructions for that model.
- The complete power unit and its readable model/serial label.
- The old part code or packaging, if available.
- The bag collar or filter mounting rim, still in place where practical.
- For accessories, the wall inlet with the hose disconnected and both ends of the hose.
- The underside label on the disconnected powerhead and the top of its wand connection.
Add a short note: what you want to replace, what still works, and whether the hose or cleaning head has been changed before. You can text the photos to Ace Vacuums without removing parts that are difficult to access.
4. What if the label is missing or the model is older?
Start with the remaining evidence: the full unit, any readable label fragments, the old bag or filter code, and the connections. An original manual, installation receipt or old supply package may provide the model name. Share the relevant product details; personal billing information is not needed.
Do not choose a replacement solely because another unit looks similar. Classic, Serenity, Alliance and other BEAM systems can have different collection arrangements or accessory connections. A newer hose on an older installation also needs to be identified on its own.
Once you have the details, use the BEAM bags directory, filters directory or parts directory. If your full model is not listed, request a match rather than selecting the nearest-looking number.
Common model-identification questions
Is the serial number the model number?
No. Keep both fields from the label. The model identifies the type of equipment; the serial number identifies the particular unit.
Can the power-unit model identify my powerhead belt?
It is not enough by itself. Use the label on the powerhead, because the cleaning head may have been replaced or supplied as a separate accessory.
Can I order from a photo alone?
A photo helps narrow the options. A readable label, part code and connection details make the match much more reliable. If key details are missing, we will help identify what to check next.
